Leather wastewater decolorant is a professional water treatment chemical specially developed for tannery wastewater. It can destroy the chromophoric groups of dyes to achieve effective wastewater decolorization and purification.
A mature tannery wastewater treatment process can remove water-soluble dyes from wastewater while simultaneously helping reduce suspended solids and COD levels.
The decolorizing chemical is generally added to the coagulation and sedimentation unit. When used together with mixing and settling systems, it can rapidly form dense flocs that separate colored pollutants from the wastewater.
In tannery wastewater operation and maintenance projects, color control is a critical part of achieving compliant wastewater discharge. Effective dye decolorization can not only help reduce environmental compliance risks but also reduce the sludge treatment and disposal burden.

The main types of leather wastewater decolorant available on the market can be divided into two categories: inorganic composite decolorants and organic polymer decolorants.
Inorganic composite decolorants generally have a lower procurement cost and form rapidly settling flocs, making them suitable for tannery wastewater with moderate color intensity. However, they may generate a relatively large amount of sludge during treatment.
Organic polymer decolorants require a lower dosage and provide strong decolorization performance with relatively low sludge production, making them more suitable for high-color wastewater. However, their performance can be more sensitive to fluctuations in wastewater pH, so water quality should be adjusted before dosing.
How to Use Leather Wastewater Decolorant?
Dilute the product with 10–40 parts of water and add it directly to the wastewater. After mixing and sedimentation or dissolved air flotation (DAF) treatment, clarified and decolorized water can be obtained.After adding the decolorant, the wastewater pH should be controlled within the range of 7–9.The product can be used together with polyacrylamide (PAM). However, the two chemicals should not be premixed before dosing. Using them in sequence can help accelerate floc formation, settling, and clarification. The actual dosage should be adjusted according to the wastewater quality and color intensity.
