During intensive livestock farming, pig houses and poultry houses continuously release ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, and other irritating odors. High concentrations of these odors can affect the respiratory health of livestock and poultry, hinder animal growth, reduce farming productivity, and lead to complaints from nearby residents, creating additional environmental compliance pressure. Traditional cleaning and ventilation methods are often no longer sufficient to meet current odor-control requirements, making livestock farm deodorant an important treatment agent for livestock odor control.
Livestock farm deodorant can target odor sources in animal housing areas, manure channels, manure storage tanks, and composting areas. Through decomposition or neutralization, it helps eliminate odor-causing substances rather than simply masking unpleasant smells. The product can be applied through manual spraying or automated spraying systems, covering floors, manure piles, water curtain systems, and other odor-emitting areas. Combined with proper ventilation, it can further help reduce the concentration of harmful gases inside livestock facilities.
The three main types of livestock farm deodorant available on the market are plant-based deodorant, bio-enzyme deodorant, and microbial deodorant.
Plant-based deodorant is formulated with plant extracts and generally has a fresh and pleasant odor. When used according to the recommended application requirements, it is suitable for use around pregnant sows, piglets, chicks, and other livestock and poultry. It can be sprayed in animal housing areas, on floors, and through water curtain systems, including applications where animals are present.
Bio-enzyme deodorant uses enzymatic reactions to break down odor-causing substances. It is mainly used in manure storage tanks, composting areas, and wastewater or manure channels, making it suitable for long-term odor control in areas with high organic loads.
Microbial deodorant contains beneficial microorganisms such as lactic acid bacteria and photosynthetic bacteria. It is suitable for high-odor areas such as manure and other organic waste sources. By promoting the biological degradation of odor-causing substances, it helps reduce unpleasant odors and improve the surrounding air environment.
For effective pig farm odor control, the deodorant can be applied to pig houses, manure channels, manure storage areas, and other odor-emitting locations. For poultry farm odor control, it can be used in chicken houses, poultry manure areas, water curtain systems, and other high-odor locations.
During daily application, the dilution ratio should be adjusted according to the odor intensity and actual operating conditions. For heavily contaminated manure and waste areas with strong odors, a higher application concentration may be required. Microbial and bio-enzyme deodorants should not be used together with disinfectants, as disinfectants may inhibit microbial activity or deactivate biological ingredients.
