Phosphorus in sewage mainly comes from phosphorus-containing organic matter in domestic sewage, synthetic detergents, industrial wastewater, fertilizers, pesticides, and various animal excreta. If the sewage is not fully treated, phosphorus will be lost to rivers, lakes, and seas, causing eutrophication of water bodies.
Eutrophication of water bodies has become one of the serious water environmental problems facing humanity. International experience shows that about one-third of the total phosphorus load entering surface water bodies comes from phosphorus in urban sewage, so reducing phosphorus content in urban sewage is one of the main ways to prevent water body eutrophication. Urban sewage referred to here includes urban domestic sewage, industrial wastewater, and sewage formed by urban runoff.
In recent years, frequent eutrophication of rivers, lakes, and seas in China caused by nitrogen and phosphorus pollution from urban sewage and key industrial wastewater has attracted widespread attention for the research and application of technologies for ammonia and phosphorus removal.
The use of phosphorus removal agents can effectively treat sewage. Phosphorus remover agents are rich in special groups that can combine with phosphate ions to form hydrophobic flocculent precipitates. During the hydrolysis process, a large amount of hydroxide flocculent precipitate is formed, with a large specific surface area and strong adsorption capacity, which can adsorb some free phosphorus and organic matter.
At the same time, the precipitate can also capture some insoluble matter, achieving a certain phosphorus removal effect. They not only effectively remove inorganic and some organic phosphorus from water, but also can remove color, SS, COD, and other substances through coagulation and flotation, with good removal effects, so that the treated wastewater can meet discharge or reuse standards.
Strengthening environmental management through the use of efficient phosphorus removal agents can better protect the water environment and achieve sustainable development in various industries, making a greater contribution to the cause of environmental protection.
